About

Ramm Tissue Culture laboratory was first established to cater for the nursery needs of Ramm Botanicals. Over time the quality of work was recognised and contract work was accepted. Today, we are in demand for the supply of tissue culture, both domestically and internationally.

Our History

The Ramm Tissue Culture laboratory was first established as the Burbank Technology Tissue Culture Laboratory and Research Centre. The laboratory was officially opened on the 16th February 1982 by Sir Herman Black, Chancellor of Sydney University. Ramm Botanicals took over the laboratory in November 2002.

The laboratory is currently used for the research and development of new retail, landscape, agricultural and forestry lines, and for the commercial production of specialist varieties.

We have experience in a broad range of genera, however the Anigozanthos program is our flagship product. Within this program we test and trial the genetics, establish commercial production and market and promote throughout the globe.

Our Staff

The Kangy Angy laboratory has a team of approximately 36 staff, who are led by our Kangy Angy Laboratory Manager Lisa Coutts.

Lisa has an Associate Diploma in Applied Science (Chemistry) and prior to her employment at Ramm worked in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Lisa has been with Ramm Botanicals for over 15 years and has a broad range of business experience including product development,  exporting and production planning.

The laboratory team includes a dedicated Product Development Team whose focus is on the initiation and introduction of new genetics, as well as the continuous improvement of existing commercial crops.

Georgia Weaver joined our Product Development Team in November 2020. Georgia has a PhD in Molecular Biology and has made significant contributions to Ramm Tissue Culture since her appointment. Georgia has since also been appointed to the role of Offshore Production Manager and her  primary focus is on the continual improvement of the quality and supply of tissue culture produced in our offshore laboratories.

Our laboratory production planners have over 40 years combined experience between them. They have developed immense knowledge and experience in developing and managing our production plans, which continue to evolve as the business grows both in size and complexity.

The laboratory production team includes many staff with over 10 years of production experience.
